Carbon MBA Consultancy Projects

East of England Energy Group (EEGR)

Supporting EEEGR in their work, the carbon MBA consultancy team has been able to bring business relevance to the much quoted phrase the low carbon economy. A phrase often used by politicians, the key is to make this phrase an economic reality. Using EEEGRs innovative Mapergy software, the team were able to give structure to what a low-carbon supply chain could look like and develop a questionnaire allowing individual companies to identify their contribution to the low carbon economy. The questionnaire, designed to be rapidly deployed and completed, will in combination with the Mapergy software, allow for the first time a low-carbon supply chain to be visualized. This in turn will give competitive advantage to the members East of England Energy group and put them at the front of low-carbon economy.

Breckland District Council

The Carbon MBA team has provided valuable insight to their client, Breckland District Council and progress in developing viable low-carbon energy provision of a new rural based development. Climate change requires all developments to consider the environmental and carbon consequence as part of the design and operation, and encourages low-carbon energy supply. However every development must be commercially sustainable and especially in remote locations energy supply can be a barrier to the development of rural economies and the provision of jobs. In consultation with the many partners and exploring many options, the team was able to get beyond rhetoric and got to grips with the carbon and commercial reality of the situation. The main outputs were a prospectus and a roadmap for identifying and assessing appropriate low-carbon energy supplies and suppliers. Whilst of benefit to Breckland and its rural geographical, this could become an exemplar for other rural authorities.

Anglia Boat Builders

Working with Anglia Boat Builders and its members, the Carbon MBA team has contributed to the progression of the innovative Eco-Boat project through providing a strategic framework leading to the development of a prospectus. Members of the Anglia Boat Builders have been producing craft with environmentally friendly features for over 20 years. Now the Association and its members wish to take this further and design and build a cruiser that would employ the best available low-carbon technologies.  The team worked with ABA in reviewing strategic options for the development of Eco-Boat based on potential market opportunities and also looked at funding opportunities. The prospectus aids the ABA in future discussions as this innovative and timely low-carbon product moves to market.
