International Economic Environment

Description

The module is split into two parts.  The first microeconomic part focuses on the immediate economic environment and examines the functioning of markets and the impact of location on business behaviour and performance.  The second macroeconomic part focuses on the broader economic environment and examines the functioning of national economies and the global economy as a whole.  Throughout, economic theory will be strongly related to past and current economic events.

To help managers understand and influence the economic environment in which they operate.

To develop managers as critical consumers of economic  news, research, and policy.     

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module students should have an understanding of the principles of economics.

By the end of the module students should be able to apply economic tools and concepts to analyse and explain business problems.
